Today’s regular meeting is the FIRST in the new term of 2012/2013. The president David Siew started off the meeting with a quote of “It’s not important how fast you are doing, what’s more important is that you are doing it” in his president speech. His participation in the TLI training was shared. The theme for the new term is “Learning and Frienship”.
The Toastmaster of the Evening role was played by our IPP (Immediate Past President) Michael Wong. He related his utmost feeling and experience of “One Step at a time” in his Mount Kinablau hiking. Humorous Master Eu Inn Hoon brought laughters to the audience with her children cold jokes on the “Stepping on the solid ground” and “Buttefly” which meant a flying butter.
Ivy Gam was the Table Topic Master in the meeting. She prepared questions on the impersonation of famous idol, for instances, “If you were Tom Cruise”, “If you were Jackie Chan”, “If you were Lee Chong Wei” and so forth. Charlie, Mei Lee, Khor, Kai Fen (guest), Bey (guest) and Joe (guest) took part in this impromptu speech session. The best speaker went to Khor who twisted and thought of the box on the speech title of “If you were Jeremy Lim”. Their performances were evaluated by David Siew, CC.
The prepared speech session kicked off with the first speaker, Charlie, with the title of “How to lose weight?”. She achieved her speech objectives on how to organise her speech by elaborating clearly on effective ways to lose weight, with sharing of personal experience. He was evaluated by Khor. Competent Communicator Amy Gan spoke on her second advanced speech manual projects in storytelling with the theme of 5 AM. The audience was captivated with her story of attending a youth club leadership camp where the participants were required to wake up as early as 5 a.m. to a graveyard in a remote oil palm estate. She brought back the best speaker award and was evaluated by Inn Hoon. Another competent communicator Foo Mei Lee have her speech in mandarin in Advanced Speech manual on “Product Selling”. To enhance the effect of visual effect, she demonstrated the product while delivering her speech. Her points of improvement were highlighted by ACS, ALB Ivy Cherng who was also the best evaluator of the night.
In the third session of the meeting, Evaluation Session, General Evaluator DTM Ngan Kwan Eng suggested improvement areas which included lengthening the time for table topic speech evaluation, mandarin evaluation, title of the toastmaster (TM) and so on. We were so honoured and appreciated to have her sincere evaluation on the club meeting. Her evaluation session was as well assisted by Grammarian, Janet Fernandez, Ah Counter, Francis Vasanthi and Time Keeper, Chiam. The meeting ended at 9:40pm with presidential closing address. There were total 16 attendances with 3 new guest.
